1) In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media product?
2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media product; The Mnemosyne Pill is representing the social groups of; Doctors, Housewives, Good Guys and FBI agents. I am going to be comparing my films to the following films, … (the doctor)Face/Off (The Housewife), (The FBI agent), Bourne identity (complex character)
Doctors in thrillers have the stereotypical Mise-en-scene clothing of the white long coat and glasses, the glasses are a sign of intelligence and doctors are somebody who you are meant to trust but in the case of this thriller and our thriller, the doctors both turn out to be the bad guy. Menacing music gets played over the handshake which informs the audience that infact the doctor is the villain and cannot be trusted. This then puts John in a vulnerable position as the audience realise that nobody can be trusted which emphasises the thriller genre.
We made our housewife look like the very stereotypical housewife with her being set in and around a house during day time, in our opening we see Jess be dominant and strong to protect her kids as she had a mothers instinct - so we have used a low angle shot to show her dominance. She has make-up on and her hair in a bun so her appearance is just like a housewife’s.
Our character Mr Recall is in a similar sequence to Bourne, both people have stuck in a sequence where they both have to find their identity. Bourne is dressed in normal clothes and acts normal, so we made our character look and dress normal. John is also a father figure as we see at the beginning as he has kids, we see him as a father figure who wants to do well for his kids, as he takes the 'Mnemosyne Pill' in order to have money to do well for the children.
