"Five - Keep on moving"
Evaluation
What have you learned about creating a music video?
I learnt that by doing a music video you have to use many
camera angles and shots. I also learnt that you have to meet the songs genre criteria.
As I done the music song and video “five – keep on moving” that is a pop song so we had to use the pop genre codes and conventions, E.G. matching outfits, cheesy dance routines
How did you work within your new group?
As we are a small class we decided to record the actual footage as a whole group and just edit it in our small groups. This was fun as we could actually have 5 members to make us look like the boy band 'Five' and have two camera people so we could have two different angles. When it came to editing i enjoyed my group, in my group was Megan and Rebekah. We worked well together as a group because all our voices got heard and everything we suggested we decided as a group if it was a good idea or not. So everything that was in the clip was a groups effort and each member of the group had parts to edit so we could gain more experience for our main taskHow did you use technology?
We used technology to create our music video
well. For filming we used a HD Hitachi video cameras and a trip-pod to sit it
on. To edit and put our video together we used Final Cut Pro which is on the
Apple Mac computer. We downloaded the music via iTunes and then uploaded it the
final cut pro to put into our video. This means that our music video could be
at the best quality for what we can do now so we can see how much we've
improved in our final one. We used special effects in our video on Final Cut
Pro, for example, we used slow motion for the jump at the end and we used Ken
Burns to zoom into a particular clip, this helped our clip look
better.
Did you do any research and planning prior to the production?
We didn't do much research and planning
towards the clip because we didn't have much time and we didn't feel
the need to, we had a quick group discussion on what
clothes to wear where we all come to the same agreement of black jeans and a
white t-shirt. We also looked and learnt the lyrics of the song so we were able
to mime for our music video. However we already knew the codes and conventions
for the pop genre
What representations are covered in your music video?
We represented young adults in our music video
because they are shown and known for being easy going and having a good time.
How have you met the pop genre?
We met the pop genre by using the codes and
conventions to a pop song, we were wearing matching outfits which made us look
like a boy band, and we also done synchronized dancing
which helped make us look like a family like normal boy bands do.
What do you think your strength and weaknesses are?
I think i have the boy band look, so
that goes in advantage to doing a boy band song. I can think of imaginative shots and
imaginative editing as it was my idea to have in the clip "behind the
scenes" and to have in in black and white to make it sure to the audience
that it’s behind the scenes.
My weakness is that I’m not very good a
miming so therefore for the main task i need to get better at miming.
